VetFamily’s launch in Brazil has already impacted over 1000 vets
At VetFamily we continue to grow our community by expanding our infrastructure and service offering further globally. During September we launched our services in South America, initially serving the community of independent vets in Brazil. The first online launch events “VetFamily Success Journey” have impacted over 1000 companion animal vets, and further sessions are planned.
Massive market in rapid development
The Brazilian market is vibrant, dynamic and quite unique, which brings an ocean of opportunities for veterinarians and the industry in general. Brazil has the second highest number of households with pets in the world, just behind the USA. Over 55 million dogs and 25 million cats reside in Brazil, and their pet parents consider their pets as part of the family and want the best possible care and support for them. This has led to a substantial market growth in the past years with boosted sales and increased number of clinics. Today there are over 30 000 veterinary establishments such as clinics and hospitals in the country, most of these are small neighborhood clinics. Together they employ over 150 000 veterinarians, eager to provide top class services to their customers.
Clear position for VetFamily to strengthen clinics
With the long experience from supporting and developing clinics in other countries, VetFamily will support the independent vet clinics Brazil in many ways. Some examples;
- Adding them to a unique global community of vets. This community provides support to the vets and other staff, but more importantly it brings expertise and benchmarks on how to develop and rethink (and challenge!) the status quo of what is “best in class” for a vet clinic and in animal health.
- Providing them with relevant added value content to support their continuous education and professional qualification – more knowledge means better business.
- Bringing together vets that today have little bargaining power with key suppliers, to a growing purchasing group for better commercial terms and conditions so they stay competitive and (re)gain control over prescriptions and therapeutic recommendations.
- Providing digitization tools to increase the standard of care and improve preventative health care and animal wellbeing.
Henry Berger in place with solid experience
With over 25 years of experience in the veterinary and animal health industry, Henry will focus on establishing and developing VetFamily in Brazil, working closely with existing VetFamily markets and global partners as well as establishing new local partnerships. Prior to joining VetFamily, Henry was Global Head Ruminant & Equine Business Unit at Merial in Atlanta, USA, before joining Boehringer Ingelheim as Global Head of Strategic Partnerships for the past 2 years.
"We're thrilled to launch our service and community in Brazil, a vast market where we see a clear position for VetFamily to support and develop the independent vets. Launching successfully in a new market is dependent on our partner suppliers, and we are very happy about having a number of key partners with us from the start. Together we will set the foundation for how to develop this market with new services and strong relations in the community” says Ali Tajbakhsh CEO at VetFamily. “With our Country Manager Henry Berger and his energy and industry experience, we are looking forward to great success in scaling up VetFamily in South America.”
“VetFamily’s unique community of vets has a transformative power through the sense of togetherness and best practice sharing”, says Henry. “The opportunity to help improve and transform the veterinary profession and practices, and at the same time contribute to improved animals’ health, are the main reasons for me to join VetFamily.”
The online launch events “VetFamily Success Journey”
The online launch events are a good example of what we want our role to be in the market – a focus on supporting vets with best management practices, solutions and tools to increase the profitability of their business and generate more time to take care of animals. The events include presentations by three practitioners of the pet vet market: Dr. Viviani De Marco, Dr. Fabiano de Granville Ponce and Dr. José Paulo Bernardes Jr. They talk about key topics of relevance for veterinarians such as Preventative Medicine, Pricing and Reminder Management. The “VetFamily Success Journey” events are online and free. Further information on next events can be found at www.vetfamilybrasil.com.br.

"After our first weeks of talking to vets and suppliers in Brazil the initial response has been very encouraging, and we are just getting started."
