Swedish clinics develop their leadership in Dubrovnik
In September a number of Swedish member clinics spent a long weekend in Dubrovnik, Croatia to develop their leadership skills, and share current challenges and ways to solve them. The yearly member trip also has the objective of strengthening the networks amongst independent vet practices and having fun together. On top of presentations and workshops, there were dinners, guided tours and wine tasting. This year the trip had 27 participants and got excellent feedback.
Karin Ronander, Country Manager VetFamily Sweden says “The best thing about the trip is that there are such wonderful people who are involved and who are extremely generous with their knowledge. When we are open ourselves up and share, an incredibly nice community is created that is very valuable to have in everyday life. The realization that you are not alone in your challenges also makes you stronger as a leader and clinic owner”.
The agenda focused on various difficult dilemmas that managers face. Situations that don’t necessarily have a right or wrong but can be solved in different ways. By discussing these dilemmas in a group and having everyone contribute with both their own experiences and different solutions, a sense of security is created that strengthens the managers. One of the clinics that had tested a new approach this summer by promoting some clinic staff as acting clinic managers also shared that experience. It resulted in very good and relevant discussions on new ways of working.
Our partner IDEXX participated with a session on pricing strategies and how to realize this in practice at your clinics. ApoEx presented the Direct Settlement Portal that streamlines the process between the animal owner and the insurance company, saving time for the clinic.
Some of the feedback from participating clinics;
"Problems are meant to be solved and there are many ways to do it! If you have the will, you can do it."
"Very inspiring days! So many wise people in one place."
" How similar we are and how much we can help each other in our activities."
