Employee Spotlight: Laura Compaired
Meet Laura Compaired, a data enthusiast with a curious mind and a heart for animals. Originally from Argentina and now based in Stockholm, Laura is part of our Tech team at VetFamily’s head office in Stockholm, where she turns complex data into clear, actionable insights that help independent veterinary clinics thrive.
Turning data into action
If you've ever wondered what a data scientist does, Laura explains it simply: “I take raw information – like sales figures, client behavior, or operations data – clean it, analyze it, and find patterns or trends. Then I translate all of that into insights that people across the business can understand and act on.”
At VetFamily, her days are packed with building features for our dashboards, supporting other teams with data-related questions, analyzing trends, and developing automation and machine learning models. It’s all part of helping our clinics and partners make smarter decisions.
Helping clinics focus on what matters
Having worked in banking and telecom, Laura was surprised by how much veterinarians juggle – not just caring for animals, but also running their clinics like businesses. “That’s where I see the value of VetFamily: we help them manage the business side so they can focus on taking care of animals.” One of her current projects includes building dynamic dashboards that help suppliers understand how their products perform across clinics – turning data into real-world impact – and with that understand how they as suppliers can focus their support to the clinics in the best way.
Career highlights & passions
Laura is proud of many things, but one career moment that stands out is when she designed a credit risk methodology that met newly introduced financial regulations in banking. The project required technical precision, regulatory alignment, and teamwork – and it was successfully implemented and audited.
Her motivation at VetFamily? “Knowing that my work ultimately helps veterinary clinics and pet parents provide the best possible care for their animals.”
The human side of data
Away from dashboards and data models, Laura is a self-described geek with a love for board games, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons. She’s also a nature lover who enjoys long forest hikes, especially when Stockholm’s weather cooperates. At home, she’s kept company by two lazy and lovable cats, Coco and Canela, and dreams one day of having a farm full of animals.
If she could give her younger self advice, it would be this: “Don’t be so hard on yourself and try to enjoy and be present in the moment instead of worrying so much about the future.”
We’re proud to have Laura on our team – bringing data to life and helping VetFamily support independent veterinary clinics around the world.
